Schedule & Activities

Worship at Peace Church of the Brethren starts every Sunday at 11 a.m., preceded by Church School (for adults) and Sunday School (for children of school age) beginning at 9:30.  The adult Church School will be viewing a video supplied by Bread for the World. Next we will be reading Peter Gomes' book The Good Book.

We continue our First Sunday celebrations at worship on May 4.  All Church of the Brethren members, associates and friends are especially invited to attend worship at Peace Church on the first Sunday of every month.

Our friends at Snow-Cap are continue celebrating their 40th year serving neighbors in East County. They are asking folks to donate "40 for 40," whether it's 40 dollars, 40 cans of tuna, or 40 whatevers. Click on the link for all the details.

Portland Peace Church of the Brethren, produces a 30-minute community television program hosted by Rachael Waas Shull each month known as "Brethren Voices."

The May program remembers peace rallies and vigils. More than 100 communities across the country held events on and around the fifth anniversary of the launching of the Iraq war, and the sixth year of the U.S. occupation has begun.

For three years, "Brethren Voices" has interviewed participants at peace rallies to give voice to dissent that is too often missing from our national airwaves and cable shows. Interviews feature many different individuals from various backgrounds and experiences.

The Iraq Body Count Exhibit, honoring all people who have died in the war is featured in the May program. Rachel Waas Shull hosts and Brent Carlson interviews folks at the rally.

The program is also viewed across the country in the communities of La Verne, CA., Westminster, MD; York, PA; Dayton, Ohio; Richmond, IN; Kent, WA; Springfield, OR. If you want further information, contact producer Ed Groff.

•Camp Myrtlewood prepares for another year of hosting camps and retreats, and in anticipation, the annual Memorial Day Work Weekend beckons volunteers of all ages and abilities to help clear brush and trails, chop back the greenery, and generally spiff up the grounds for the summer season.
